Craniocervical instability surgeons USA

Hi everyone,

I am in Europe. Am looking for a second opinion on my co to c4 fusion. Dr Henderson's office told me he no longer sees international patients which is a shame as could do with his help. I got the funds for a revision. I got swallowing issues and it feels like my neck is in my throat. Severely unwell.

Please does anyone know any CCI surgeon who will see me? I contacted Dr B but his surgery super expensive and I think the process is long. Ideally I would like to get my neck fixed in the upcoming months. I've asked around multiple places and no luck.

Thanks in advance.

I was recently told by someone (who should have good information) that there are currently just the three: Henderson, Bolognese and Patel. I was also told that Patel is not accepting any new patients. Perhaps there is more, since this is not—I am sure —the news you were hoping for. Just some info I got the other day.

If true, it is utterly absurd. How can it be that there are, what? Four total on the planet? And we find ourselves in need of what they do?

Is surgery the only path that will work for you?

Long before CCI surgery there were other types. I can remember when Dr. Bolognese trained under another surgeon (name forgotten). I managed to find a doctor here in Dallas, TX who could do the same type of operation, but I had to wait until he had perfected it exactly.

I waited and it was five (5) years. I was his first patient, but I was quickly followed up by others. If you weren't in his office by 5:00 a.m. (appt. time) you could easily spend a whole day waiting for him. He was excellent and I'll never forget him.

Doctors like that want you to see their own specialists (other neurologists), internists, PE people and others. It's a hard thing to go through as a patient. However, I was stable for many years, and I'll be forever grateful to this man. He operated on many patients afterwards and, as far as I know, his success rate was 100%. These doctors have to be trained, and this takes time. Not many are willing to make the sacrifice. I hope you'll have some luck in finding your own.

I'm surprised that Dr. B is still operating.....I knew of him probably 35-40 years ago. A long, long time in the world of surgeons. Keep looking and following up...you never know. Send a personal letter, not an e-mail...anything to help. Yours, Lenora
