Doctor in Maryland?

Hello all. I am in central Maryland and looking for recommendations for a doctor preferably in this state, or possibly in southern PA, Northern VA, Delaware or the Eastern panhandle of WV.

I've been looking around a bit and found a couple of possibilities. Does anyone have any experience with Dr. Layton or Dr. Pocinki on this page? https://ammes.org/?doctor-clinic=&city-state=MARYLAND&find-a-doctor=1&s=doctors

I have seen decent reviews on other sites of both of them, but I am curious to hear the opinion from those on this site. I am female and overweight and have had very bad exeriences with most doctors. Someone who didn't attribute EVERYTHING to weight would be great. Someone nonsexist would be extra wonderful. I find that most doctors dismiss me out of hand, even ones with whom thin people or men have had good experiences.

Any other recommendations welcome.

I have tried a few times this year to schedule an appointment with Dr. Pocinki, but when I called unfortunately he was not seeing new patients. Through some online research I came across Dr. Alan Weiss in Annapolis (had availability fairly quickly and good reviews), Mark Sivieri in Columbia (had to wait about eight months when I called) and Dr. Garabedian in King of Prussia, PA. I have no personal experience with these doctors, as I ended up seeing someone in NY, but I thought this could be helpful.

Hi all, I’m looking for a doctor in the area. I’m in N. Maryland. I’m in need of any type of doctor you may feel is receptive, listened to you, didn’t fat shame or psychologize your illness. I‘ve had zero luck with primary and specialist Drs. and need all of the above.

@LamzyDivey Hi, have you had any luck finding a new doctor? we are going to see Dr Alan Weiss in MD at the end of this month. He worked closely with Dr Jacob Teitelbaum the author of Fatigue to Fantastic. He has a protocol for ME/CFS. I hear mixed reviews about the protocol but we are going to see what it’s all about. https://www.annapolisintegrativemedicine.com/

We are quite new to this. My son has been bedridden for a year. Currently we are working with a functional doctor but she isn’t an “expert” in ME. We’ve seen small improvements with her but seem to be at a standstill. Dr Weiss has worked with ME patients and has had some success.

@Hope_eternal how did it go with Weiss?
I don’t know what to think. I feel like he took the time to listen and he asked lots of questions. He was patient. As far as his suggestions on how to proceed, I’m confused. I’m trying to let everything digest but I don’t know if we’ll continue with him. I need to do some further research and think if his approach makes sense for us. I’m about to post about it to get some feedback. I’m really quite upset and feeling deflated.

@Hope_eternal - I am so foggy it’s taken this long to come back to this conversation. Have you followed up on anything Dr. Weiss talked about, or returned to him? It’s so hard to decide what to commit to when you have so little energy to expend. Between the out of pocket fees, the loss of work for my husband to take me places…these decisions become so burdensome it’s easier to become inactive…instead of proactive.
I hope your son is seeing some improvement.
My husband has a co-worker who is a patient of Dr. Rowe’s. She is still on his roster because she became ill in her teens and he was still taking more patients. Now, she is in enough of a remission that she works a full time job! So, I am just having the brilliant idea that I should be chatting with her, and maybe she has some insights.

We never ended up going back to him., He wanted us to put him on a stimulant called Modafinil. This is without looking over the extensive records we gave him ahead of time. I just felt he didn’t properly prepare for my son’s appt. We spent a good 40 minutes going over when the fatigue started. I had to repeat myself over and over. All the history was in the records I gave him,

Anyway, we are working with a functional doctor for the past few months and are going to stick with her for a bit to see where things go. Right now he’s pretty much in the same situation. In bed 23,1/2 hrs a day, :(

I hope thing improve for you soon. If we end up getting results from our doctor I’ll let you know., I like her bedside manner and she’s very thorough.
